Dear parents,
I am writing this letter because I believe your buying me a dog for me will be a good choice. I will explain reasons for this and give facts to support my opinion.
The first reason is because having a dog will teach me how to be responsible. There are statistics to show thisis true. According to many websites and most people, having a dog will need responsibilty, so I will be able to learn how to be a more responsible person.

The second reason is because I'm an only child, and you both are working, so I am very lonely during the day. But if a have a dog, I won't have time to be bored. There is an article supporting my claim.
The final reason is because dogs are good for childrens' positive development in many ways. For instance, dogs give positive influence to people's health. There are two websites supporting this.
As you can see, you should buy me a dog, Based on my arguments, I hope you will concider my positive point of view about having a dog. It will have a good effect on me.

This is a well written letter which is so persuasive that we are ALMOST convinced to have a pet at home. I like your reasoning and giving evidences.
ReplyDeleteYour first reason for having a dog, in particular, is absolutely true and we totally agree with the argument of responsibility. Taking in charge of other's life bears such a huge responsibility that it requres a tremendous devotion to the life, especially when it has shorter life span than the person in charge. Not only raising and taking care of the life when it is alive, but also the death and the farewell must be taken when the time comes. (Just like Lily and Blueberry's case.) On top of that, you have already proven your ability of taking responsibility in your own works so that we don't think you need to undergo another course of learning responsibility by having a pet at home.
It is true that you have no siblings. However, you are companied by your lovely family as well as your friends. Your granny is spending utmost time for you after school as you already know. No point can be found that a doggy is better than your granny for your company.
Finally, the health issue. Usually animals are known to carry a lot of parasites and germs which might be OK with them but are absolutely detrimental to human's health. You mentioned about positive influence of mental relief, but you also have to take into account physical health of you and your parents.

There are some things I would point out, but this comment given by your parents is probably much better because they are the ones who you are actually trying to persuade. I did enjoy the pictures, though.
