One Second Every Day

Hello!! I'm back for a special blog post today. For this post, I will share 7 pictures I took, one picture every day, for 7 days. I'm having a lot of fun here, and I want to tell you, so I want to introduce one week I spent here at GLPS!:)

[SUNDAY]
On Sunday, my parents came so we took a short walk around the school and took many pictures. I took this picture on the day they came, because I was looking around for something with '민족사관고등학교' on it. This is our dormitory building. It is 12 stories high, and the rooms inside, which is where we stay, are quite wide.

[MONDAY]
This is a picture of the Chungmu Building. We have three classes here every Monday, and this day, we started giving our History of Science presentations. The building looks like an old Hanok from the outside, but in the inside, it is just a modern three-story building.

[TUESDAY]
This was the day of our first yoga class. The place in the picture is our yoga classroom. There is a very big mirror on the front wall of the classroom. It is comfortable here, and our yoga teacher is kind. We have our last yoga class on Friday.

[WEDNESDAY]
I think one of the best parts of being here is playing golf 2 hours every week. It is difficult for teenagers like me to play golf, so I especially like this class. This is he golf range of Korean Minjok Leadership Academy(KMLA).

[THURSDAY]
This is the KMLA Dasan Building. We have three classes here at this building every Thursday. On the day I took this picture, I was going to one of the classes here, and this angle was so pretty, I just had to take a picture. I suddenly noticed the roof of the Hanok was very beautiful.

[FRIDAY]
This day's math class was very fun because we learned a new game. It's called number baseball, and you have to use your logical skills to play this game. I like the classroom, and I don't know why. Maybe it's because I can see through the big windows of the classroom.

[SATURDAY]
We had our actual trial(Mock Trial) that we'd been preparing for. This is our teacher, Mr.Humphrey. My team won the trial this day! Mr.Humphrey is a very kind teacher to us, and he encourages us to talk a lot. He is great at Mock Trial(of course!) as well :P

I've shared my seen photos with you. I hope you liked being introduced to what I did for a week. Maybe you can start your own 'One Second A Day' project:D

My Persuasive Letter

Jeeho Na

KMLA

August 8, 2013

Dear parents,
I am writing this letter because I believe your buying me a dog for me will be a good choice. I will explain reasons for this and give facts to support my opinion.
The first reason is because having a dog will teach me how to be responsible. There are statistics to show thisis true. According to many websites and most people, having a dog will need responsibilty, so I will be able to learn how to be a more responsible person.
The following links are websites to support this argument.
The second reason is because I'm an only child, and you both are working, so I am very lonely during the day. But if a have a dog, I won't have time to be bored. There is an article supporting my claim.
The final reason is because dogs are good for childrens' positive development in many ways. For instance, dogs give positive influence to people's health. There are two websites supporting this.
As you can see, you should buy me a dog, Based on my arguments, I hope you will concider my  positive point of view about having a dog. It will have a good effect on me.

Sincerely, your daughter

P.S. Aren't they adorable??

P.P.S. Email/text me as soon as you see this!!

Creative Writing

Today, I'll post a story of my own. The title is <The Kidnapped Prince And Brave Princess>. Even though I wrote the story for a very short time, I hope you enjoy reading it.

Once upon a time...
There lived a princess named Princess Beautiful. Princess Beautiful was engaged to a prince named Prince Handsome. The two only had 2 weeks until their marriage, so Prince Handsome set off on his way to meet Princess Beautiful. Meanwhile, Princess Beautiful was waiting for her prince to come. As Prince Handsome and his men were crossing a forest, Princess Beautiful suddenly appeared. It was a bit odd that she was picking strawberries on her own, but the prince didn't care that much. The prince and princess met, and Princess Beautiful told Prince Handsome that she would like him to follow her on his own. She also explained that she had told her maids to stay at the castle because she didn't want to be interrupted. Prince Handsome willingly followed Princess Beautiful to where she took him, and thy arrived at Princess Beautiful's castle. There, Princess Beautiful lead Prince Handsome to her room, and silently locked the door from the outside by magic. However, the prince didn't notice, and as he looked around, he saw a witch standing in the place Princess Beautiful was. The prince was very shocked, and tried to open the door, but the door was already locked. At the real Princess Beautiful's castle, a servant reported that somebody had claimed to see a castle looking just like the real one. Princess Beautiful asked to summon the person, and she heard about this castle. She finally decided to follow the man to the castle, and was surprised to see a castle standing in front of her that looked just the same as her own. There, the princess went up, and saw a room that looked exactly like her's. The door was locked, so the princess opens and goes inside the room, but the prince is lying on the floor, unconscious.

Movie Review

Hello, everyone! On this post, I would like to introduce you to an old movie called <The Princess Bride>. This movie was made in 1987 and was directed and produced by Rob Reiner.

The genre of <the Princess Bride> is a fairy tale-action-fantasy-comedy-romance. It's a story being told by a grandfather to a grandson, and this is where we can tell this story is a fairy tale.

The characters in the story are Buttercup, Westley, Indigo, Fezzik, Vizzini, and Prince Humperdink.

The plot of the story is very interesting. I'll tell you a summary of it.

Buttercup and Westley fall in love, but Westley doesn't have the money to marry Buttercup. He sets off, but never comes back. Buttercup hears that Westley was killed by a pirate, so she refuses to leave her house for five years. She becomes engaged to Prince Humperdink. However, she is kidnapped by Vizzini, Indigo, and Fezzik. Westley comes to save her, but covers his face in a black mask, and acts as he is the pirate who killed Westley. Buttercup becomes enraged, and pushes Westley, still covered in a mask. She tells him as she pushes him to die like Westley did, and finally realizes that the man is Westley, because he replied "As you wish!" while rolling down the cliff-like hill. "As you wish!" is what he used to always answer to Buttercup before they had parted. On the way, they meet Prince Humperdink, and he catches Westley. Buttercup makes a suggestion that if Prince Humperdink swears to escort Westley back to his ship, she will go with the prince as he wishes. Prince Humperdink agrees, and Buttercup's marriage with him is scheduled. But Buttercup knows that the prince didn't let Westley free, and tells him to send people to find Westley to come for her. If Westley comes, she says, she will not marry Prince Humperdink, but if he doesn't come, the marriage will be held. Prince Humperdink promises, but again doesn't keep the promise. In the meanwhile, Westley is held captive in Prince Humperdink's secret hiding place. There, he is tortured. Indigo and Fezzik, who have became Buttercup and Westley's side, comes to rescue him, and they bring the unconscious Westley to Miracle Max. Miracle Max makes a medicine for Westley, and Westley wakes up. Then, Indigo, Fezzik, and Westley go to the castle of Prince Humperdink. They are not able to stop the marriage, but both had not said "I do", so the marriage isn't valid. Indigo has his revenge on the six-fingered person(Rugen) who killed his father. Buttercup, Westley, Indigo, and Fezzik ride white horses away, and the sun is setting in the background.

The moral of <The Princess Bride> is that true love waits forever. But other than just that, I thought about the qualities of leadership I could learn from the characters. And I could tell that Westley had a bit of leadership. His quick thinking, fast actions, and the way Indigo and Fezzik followed him told me that Westley is a leader.

My opinion about this movie was that the places in the movie ware interesting. There were places like the "Forest of Thieves", the "Fire Swamp", the "Cliffs of Insanity", and the Pit of despair". In the "Fire Swamp", there were huge rats called the "ROUS(rodents of unusual size)", and quicksand called "Lightning Sand". These places were new and were very fresh even though the movie was made in 1987. My personal favorite scene in the movie was when Indigo had his revenge on the six-fingered man.

[Indigo finds and duels with Rugen, and despite incurring heavy blood loss from stab wounds in the opening moments of the battle, he is able to maintain his focus by repeatedly reciting his long-rehearsed greeting of vengeance and eventually slays his nemesis.]
(I got this explanation of the scene from wikipedia, and I loved it so muck that I copied it directly.)
I especially liked when he repeatedly said to Rugen as he dueled, "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." It was thrilling to me the most. I liked the movie overall, and want to watch it again.

I really want to recommend <The Princess Bride> to you because since it's a fairy tale, it well never go out of date. Also, I think most people will enjoy it because it includes in various genres. Try <The Princess Bride>!! I assure you that you won't regret it!

30-Day Challenge (3 goals)

Hi!! I'm back with my second blog post. Today, I want to talk about my 30-day challenge goals. After watching a TED video about it, I decided to do it on my own a GLPS camp. The video below is the TED talk with Matt Cutts introducing the 30-day challenge.

And if you just click the following link, you can visit the 30-day challenge web site.

If you're interested in starting your 30-day challenge, but are having trouble deciding your goal, you could visit the following sites!

My first goal is to stop procrastinating, especially homework. I found myself delaying the homework I was given at GLPS. So I thought about 2 steps to make this happen. Those two are finishing my homework during our given self-study time, and not spending time doing nothing in particular during my free time.

The second goal is to go to sleep before midnight. To achieve this goal, I have to go to bed by 11:50 P.M, and stop talking with my friends at night.

My last goal is not being late for anything. This means I won't be late for deadlines, classes, meetings, or etc. To make this possible, I must try my very best to finish everything-meaning things like homework or preparation-as soon as possible. Also, I've thought of a new and creative way, and that's checking the time constantly, maybe every 5 minutes or so.

These are my 3 goals that I want to achieve before the GLPS camp ends. I hope this posting was an interesting subject to read about, and helpful as well. The 30-day challenge is something that anybody can start, so why not start, so why not start your own challenge starting today?

If this post was of help, leave a comment! I'd love to read feedback!!

Three Things I Know to be True

Self Introduction

Hello!! I'm Jeeho Na, and for my first post, I want to introduce myself!
I'll use three words to introduce myself.
Here they are:
1. Texas
2. Novels
3. 30
First, Texas. The picture is the map of Texas.

I've lived in Texas for 5 years when I was young, and that's actually where I first learned English. Although I didn't go to the U.S. to learn English, I think it was a very valuable chance for me to do so.

Second, novels. How do you think I'm going to use novels to introduce myself? You may have thought that I like reading novels, but that isn't all. I also love WRITING them! My dream is to be a writer in the future and write novels.

Lastly, the number 30. It's not how old I am(definitely!!), and my parents aren't as young as that, either. So why did I choose the number 30? It's because I love traveling, and I've been on a plane over 30 times!

This is the end of my self introduction. I hope you got to know a lot about me, and I also hope it was interesting to read. If it was helpful, leave a comment! I'd love to read feedback.
